We’re just normal men

October 22, 2025

We’re all ordinary people. We all fundamentally want the same things: love, fulfillment. I would assume that as ordinary people might do, we all probably think that our lives are boring. Mundane. Repetitive.

I often do. I often think my life is repetitive and that I struggle to overcome every day obstacles. But if I stop and really think about it, my life isn’t the same as it was last year, it’s absolutely not the same as it was 5 years ago, and the more years I add to that thought experiment the more drastically apart I feel from the old me.

There’s some statistic that most of all internet content will soon be generated by artificial intelligence, and I think that’s a shame. I’ve always wanted to write. As an excitable person I’ve wanted to do alot of other things, but I digress.

I’ve wanted to write, journal, blog, create with words for quite some time. I’ve started, stopped, deleted, and rewritten as well. I want to say fear is what’s holding me back. Possibly shame, or some other emotional cocktail.

At the root of it all: who am I to write? What knowledge or insight do I have?

Today, a thought (hopefully) swayed me in a more productive direction.

I’m me. Nobody else is me. Nobody else is you. We’re all different.

Seth Godin argues that everyone should write in order to build the skill and habit, and ultimately gain insight into oneself.

I want to argue the same.

In the age of artificial intelligence, why don’t we all fight back by flooding the internet with our innermost thoughts and feelings?

What we may perceive as our boring life might be dreadfully interesting to somebody else. Larry King became famous for interviewing others only because he was so interested in people. He recalled that one of his favorite interviews was with a plumber.

These are my favorite interesting facts about me:

There’s a million more.

And there’s a million interesting things about you as well, dear.

Let’s break the internet together.

Fun Fact: The internet isn’t real. It’s just a bunch of computers and servers and junk hooked together. It’s a jury-rigged mess that’s constantly being patched together. Do you know how websites are accessed from overseas? There’s a long-ass cable running across the ocean.

Song that’s stuck in my head: Usher – U Remind Me (I heard it on the radio last week and it won’t go away. Additional fun fact: I LOVE THE RADIO.)
