I’m Writing a BookApril 15, 2021 3:42 pm
One of my goals this year was to write a coffee table book. I’m really excited, nervous, scared, and a myriad of other emotions about it, but I’m going for it. I am going to try and document my progress for posterity’s sake, and also in case other people might be interested in the process.
Where I’m at now:
- I have 0 audience online (other than family and friends)
- I have 0 capital to invest in this project
- I have a direction and an idea, more below
I believe that having an audience will be key to actually publish this book and have it be successful. If there’s nobody to read the book when it’s done then what’s the point right?
After about 3 months I have a solid direction/idea/theme for the book. I am not going to discuss it here yet, but I will at some point. I’ve literally gone through a dozen or 2 ideas about title/direction/idea/theme, and have ended up disliking all of them afterwards. This last idea I’m sticking to and I believe in.
I can say that it is going to be heavily based around my art (it IS a coffee table book after all) and it is also based on a subject that I have been heavily into that past 5 or so years.
I came up with this idea for direction yesterday! Since, I have outlined all of the chapters that I plan on writing/illustrating about and I have typed out the content for 1 chapter.
The idea for outlining the chapters came from the book You Are a Badass. I am keeping all of my writing and ideas in Evernote. I’ll have more updates soon.
I am just going to say here that I truly appreciate anyone who has ever supported anything I’ve ever done, especially my family, my friends, and my smokin’ hot wife Diana.
